If we do skip the season any trades of draft picks done for 2020 will be considered 2021 picks instead. Players that exceed minor league rights would still have to be called up at season end and all rosters would still have to be legal by the normal Dec 31st offseason deadline. If we play it out I am unsure of what options yahoo will make available. The schedule would obviously also be unbalanced.

Ok majority has spoken. We will not count the abbreviated 2020 season for anything but bragging rights, any February 2021 draft Picks will be considered February 2022 picks as the 2021 draft will also be canceled for this off season. Any minor league players that exceed their eligibility will need to be called up at seasons end still. Dues paid for the 2020 season will roll over and be counted as dues paid for 2021 season instead. Although their is no prize or draft, the season can still be used to better your team for the future. Waivers, free agents, trades, etc will still be ongoing throughout the yahoo season and this winter’s offseason. If you have any questions please ask. Thanks

One last question, since the standings do not matter should we cancel the trade deadline and make trades possible throughout the entire yahoo season? Just a thought. If anyone else comes up with an idea or suggestion post it here so we can discuss, thanks

I am okay with there still being a trade deadline of 8/31.

Ok, I need to see what yahoo makes available..right now we do the second Sunday of August I think..forget the rule and don’t want to retype yo double check it lol. I would assume they will make aug 31 an option though.

Options available 9/6, 9/13, 9/20, 9/27 and 10/4 (which makes no sense)

One other potential issue due to this crazy season. The 35 IP minimum limit. Might be an issue in the first few weeks with pitchers not being stretched out due to shortened spring 2.0. Not that it really matters unless we do something like Bubs discussed in regards to using this season as draft positioning

I am just trying to throw stuff out so we don’t back ourselves into a corner with anything.

My opinion, I really don’t think it’s a good idea to use this season for the draft order. With twice as many prospects in the pool it is going to be deep enough to where you really wouldn’t need to tank for a top spot or feel left out by doing well. Plus the season is going to have an unbalanced schedule for us so it will be harder and easier for some teams... Early Sept trade deadline is good... I’m fine with leaving the 35 min IP limit since it won’t have an impact on anything, and if someone is needing a few innings they could always stream a few starts with this being a daily league.

Pretty much I feel like I am going to be in the camp of “leave it the way it is” instead of making a bunch of tweaks for this season that could have unattended consequences because we have never done them before, and then will just end up switching back to normal next season anyway.

Ok sounds good, and I am in the same mindset as you, but figured I would toss it all out there just in case.

So... do we even try to win??

You try to better yourself for the future. Winning 2020 does not matter, no

But as I said, waivers, trades, free agent pick ups, etc will all still be going on. Players will get injured, roles will change..sleeping on the 2020 season and your team will simply put you behind for 2021. The wind and losses won’t matter but the ability to position your team for future success surely will.

Ok. Just trying to understand.
Just one last time to be clear.
We're not playing for bragging rights. We're not even playing the season. It's just 16 month offseason for our league to rebuild for 2021.
Is that accurate?
It was my understanding we were going to play it out, just without a prize/reward.
Thanks for clearing it up.
