Since this is our initial season, and I believe there was an exception for foreign players signing up to Feb.2. I think that was the date given, that the person gets an extra draft pick the next year if the player does not sign. Can we add/drop minor league players up until that Feb date? Not adding, but replacing players as more information comes along. If that would be considered, I assume players like Fernando Romero would still be off limits since he was drafted in the majors.

No. You can’t add to minor league roster unless it’s by trading for someone currently on another owners minor league roster.

As far as the whole posting thing and that player signing, it was pretty much written in as a rule for the one player that was expected to be posted. He was taken in the draft, has been posted, and is expected to sign within 30 days, so really that rule won’t even apply as we expected it wouldn’t. We just wanted to make the player available since we moved the draft date up from the original Feb 1st date. Had we waited he would have been eligible. Since we changed the date to start the draft back in November he wouldn’t have been eligible for draft per the normal rules, this was simple written in as an exception so he could be drafted. We won’t ever encounter this again because we will NEVER draft before Feb 1st again.

If we do start early, we will allow for The Japanese players expected to post to be draftable. If they fail to actually sign or to be posted, then the owner that selected them will get a compensation pick in next season’s draft at the end of the round in which he was drafted. This rule would ONLY apply to this draft. All future drafts would be as stated in the constitution and always Feb 1st Here is what was actually written, and it only applied to the Japanese posted players
